MULTIPLAYER · ESPORTS

Legal counsel in esports.

Around the game there is an industry that does not build it and lives off it. We advise clubs, professional players, coaches, streamers, leagues and tournament organisers: here image rights, competitive discipline and the tax treatment of prize money weigh more than ownership of the code.

LEAGUE

Running a club raises questions that do not arise in a conventional company.

Rosters that turn over every season, transfers between organisations, sponsorships that may clash with the league’s own and, above all, subjection to the rulebook of every competition you enter. We support the organisation in day-to-day management and also when any of those things ends in a dispute.

Professional players and coaches

In a club’s offer, what matters is rarely the pay figure.

We review the contract in full before signing and explain how far each commitment goes: how long it lasts, what exclusivity requires, on what conditions you can leave and exactly what is assigned over image and over the content the player creates. They tend to be the shortest clauses in the document and the ones that weigh most afterwards.

ON AIR

Broadcasting on Twitch, YouTube or Kick is an economic activity with rules of its own.

From the duty to label advertising through to the use of music and other people’s material. We review deals with brands and agencies before they are signed, and handle the issues that come up afterwards, starting with content takedowns.

BRACKET

Running a competition means settling in advance questions that are usually dealt with too late.

The publisher’s licence to exploit the game during the event, who owns the broadcast, how prizes are regulated and who answers if a team defaults or the competition is suspended. We work on that documentation before the tournament starts, while there is still room to decide instead of improvise.
